Acknowledging the Custodians of Country
Urban Regeneration acknowledges the Wurundjeri and Dja Dja Wurrung peoples who are the Custodians of the land on which we live and practice. We are deeply grateful for their care and protection of these lands today and over millennia.
Regeneration also pay respects to the Dhudhuroa people of Waveroo Country on which Anne grew up

About us

Hi, I am Anne Galbraith, I offer gardening and nature connection sessions that grow out of where you are in your life. We work together in your space and find a way of gardening and or connecting to place that meets your needs.
My approach is informed by my training in Social Work and the emerging practices of Therapeutic Horticulture. From a Therapeutic Horticulture perspective we understand that we are not separate from nature and that nature is a co-therapist in our work together. My focus is on making healing gardens and learning to attend to Country.
I currently facilitate Therapeutic Garden Programs in a range of settings including Family Violence Services and with NDIS recipients. I co-facilitate the Introduction to Therapeutic Horticulture course at CERES in East Brunswick.

Therapeutic Horticulture
What does Therapeutic Horticulture offer?
Therapeutic Horticulture offers healing through gardening. At Urban Regeneration we offer Therapeutic Horticulture sessions facilitated by a certified Social Worker. We can support you to garden wherever you are located as well as offering broader nature connection practices to help ground you and deepen your connection to place. We work collaboratively with you to ensure that the sessions we offer are tailored to meet your needs.
Practice Approach
The practice approach of Urban Regeneration is informed by the disciplines of Social Work and Therapeutic Horticulture. Our sessions are person led, strengths based, trauma informed, culturally responsive and evidence based.
Practice Approach
Evidence base
Science continues to demonstrate what people have always known; that being in the 'nature' is healing. Studies show that stress responses such as elevated heart rate, blood pressure and the production of hormones such as adrenaline are all reduced when people spend time in nature. Our ability to attend is refreshed and we feel rejuvenated and calmer after being in 'natural' spaces. Studies have found that just being in a garden is healing and that gardening is as effective as conventional medical and psychological treatments for mild to moderate anxiety and depression.
